OTTO T. SKEEL, 85, of Central Lake, died on September 10, 2010 at Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility. Otto was born on April 2, 1925 in Stand Hope, IA., the son of Hubert and Ellen (Wetzel) Skeel. Otto was a resident of Central Lake since 1982 where he was a long time member of the Central Lake Bible Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was known as a "handyman". He honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. On August 24, 2002, in Holly, MI., he married Grace Reynolds who survives. Also surviving are 3 children, Gerald (Debbie) Skeel of Clio, MI., Gregory (Jackie) Skeel of Charlevoix, Jennie (Michael) Dustin of Clio, MI., 2 step-children, Mary (Herb) Romancky of Florida, Keith (Michelle) Towner of Lansing, 2 brothers, Lewis (Barb) Skeel of Missouri, Everett (Muriel) Skeel of Mt. Morris, MI., 6 grandchildren, Tina, Joshua, Benjamin, Shannon, Ryan and Brent, 4 step-grandchildren, Sarah, Rachel, Megan and Brandon and 5 great-grandchildren, 5 step great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife Margaret Skeel, a sister Bessie Whitley, a brother Gene Skeel and his parents. Funeral services will take place on Tues., Sept. 14 at 2:00 p.m. at the Central Lake Bible Baptist Church Interment with military honors will follow in Southern Cemetery, Central Lake Township. Pastor Russell Tharp and Pastor Tom Hunter will officiate. Visitation will be on Mon. Sept. 13, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
