Oscar Schauer

Oscar Schauer Jr. age 93 passed away in the early morning hours on Monday November 30, at Kalkaska Memorial Health Center's Eden Center, in Kalkaska, MI. Oscar was born on January 14, 1922 in Wisconsin. He left home around the age of 14 and rode the train back and forth to Michigan. He met his wife Shirley at the ice skating ring and fell in love. They were married shortly after. They had 5 children, Scott Schauer, Deborah (Mark McCaig) Schauer, Steve (Sue) Schauer, Rocky (Betty) Schauer, and Greg Schauer who proceeded him in death. As well as his wife Shirley Schauer, and 4 siblings.

Oscar had 5 Grandchildren Steve Sheldon, Brandon (Mary) Schauer, Justin (Laura Griffore) Schauer, Kimberly Schauer, and Heidi Schauer. And 5 Great Grandchildren Taylor, Angel, Austin, Coby, and lil Brandon. The kids meant everything to him. He lit right up when they were around.

Oscar retired from GM in the 1970's. They used to come up to Mancelona for deer hunting. Oscar and Shirley liked it so much they made it their home. They moved up from Pontiac in 1976. Oscar loved being with his family and telling stories of his past. He enjoyed being outdoors and two tracking and 4 wheeling. Oscar had a passion for classic cars, hunting, and old time westerns.

Oscar is loved and will be truly missed. He is now with his love Shirley. There are no plans for a service.
