Ordon "Bud" Hierlihy Jr., 85, of Bellaire, passed away on March 19, 2016 at Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility. Bud was born on August 20, 1930, in Bellaire, the son of Ordon and Coral (Perkins) Hierlihy. Bud resided in Bellaire his entire life and was an active member of the community. He served on the Bellaire Public Schools Board of Education, many years as president. He was a longtime member of the Church in the Hills, past commander and life member of the Bellaire American Legion and was president of the Grand Traverse Home Builders Association. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Following the war he started Vacationland based out of Bellaire where he owned and operated it from 1956-1982. He is survived by two children, Peggy (Rick) Berta of Rockford, MI, Chip (Katie) Hierlihy of West Bloomfield, a sister Mardell Dawson of Bellaire, 6 granchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Irma Hierlihy. Memorial services, with military honors, will take place on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church in the Hills in Bellaire. Pastor David Ramage will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the Church. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Bellaire. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bellaire American Legion or to Heartland Hospice. Arrangements are being handled by the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
