Omer L. Foret, 90, of Williamsburg, died Sunday, September 22, 2013 at Munson Medical Center. He was born April 5, 1923 in River Rouge, the son of Julius and Emma (VanMaele) Foret. Omer proudly served in the US Army during World War II. He was a graduate of the University of Detroit and Wayne State where he earned his Master's in Mechanical Engineering and Business Management. He was a perpetual student; always taking night classes in many different subjects. He was especially fond of cameras and photography along with making and repairing clocks. On May 18, 1957 in Detroit he married Agnes Baird who survives. Also surviving are his daughters Rusty Sweet and Judith (Jim) Majcher, son John (Rosa) Simmons, sister Ester Dudas, 3 grandchildren 5 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings Maurice, Mary Clare, Charlie, Lorraine, Joseph Robert, Joseph Robert, and grandson Shawn Simmons. No services are planned at this time. Omer was a member of the 1st Presbyterian Church in Elk Rapids and memorials donations may be given to them at 404 Spruce St., Elk Rapids, MI 49629.
