Olga Camilleri, 89 of Charlevoix, died Wednesday, May 15, 2019.  She was born June 16, 1929 in Detroit the daughter of John and Mary (Yaskow) Michnuk.

On June 25th, 1949 Olga married Francis “Frank” Camilleri in Detroit. They were introduced by mutual friends and were happily married for nearly 53 years – until Frank’s death in 2002.  Also preceding her in death were her son John Camilleri and brother Julius Michnuk.

Olga and Frank began their married life in Dearborn, Michigan and relocated to Charlevoix, Michigan in 1977. Olga was an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church and worked for many years at Barb’s Hallmark – where she enjoyed talking with the customers who came into the store.

In her free time Olga loved to bake, cook, and quilt. She had a deep love and appreciation for the natural beauty of Northern Michigan – a place she was proud to call home. She was devoted to her friends and family. She frequently traveled to visit with her children and grandchildren, and spent summers hosting them in her Charlevoix home.

Olga will be remembered for her warm spirit, her deep faith, and her boundless laughter. Surviving Olga are her children Phillip Camilleri of East Jordan, Beth (Christopher) Cowie of Washington, DC, Patrick (Beth) Camilleri of Minneapolis, MN, Mary Camilleri of Killington, VT, and grandchildren Carol Camilleri, Margaret Cowie, Madeline Camilleri, Colleen Cowie, and Grace Camilleri.

A funeral mass will be held at Noon on Tuesday, May 28 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Charlevoix.

Memorial donations in Olga’s name may be made to the Little Traverse Conservancy (https://landtrust.org/memorial-or-honorarium/) or to the Charlevoix County Commission on Aging (231-237-0103).
