Norene Martin

Norene Fay (Stebner) Martin passed away on December 29, 2020.

She was born on December 9, 1928 in Detroit, MI to Flora and Rudolph Stebner.  With her parents and brother, Allen, she lived in various suburbs of Detroit until she moved to Leelanau County after graduation from Roseville High School in 1945.  She attended CMU and EMU where she graduated with a degree in Elementary Education.  Norene taught 1st – 3rd grades in the Utica Community Schools until she retired in 1985 and moved to Bellaire, MI.

On June 9, 1951 Norene and William (1924-2007) were married and blessed with many good years and 3 daughters. She is survived by Kathleen (Paul) Bellmore of DeWitt, MI, Judith (William) Jopling of Devine, TX and Patricia Martin of Grand Rapids, MI, 6 grandchildren and 10 greatgrandchildren, Andrew (Amy, Emelia, Alexis, Gracelyn), David (Courtney, Korine, Chloe, Madelyn) and Rebecca Bellmore. Megan (Michael, Aidan, Raine, Keegan) O’Leary, Brandon (Kayla, Hudsan) and Tanya Jopling.  1 nephew, Jim Stebner, 3 nieces- Linda Kenny, Carol Mikowski, Susan Benner.

They loved their retirement home and have many great memories of time spent there with family.  She enjoyed traveling around the world, recreational vehicle camping, gardening, quilting, golfing, Lioness, volunteering at the library and Meadowbrook Care Facility and being an active member of Hope Lutheran Church.

A graveside service will be held for Norene January 2, 2021 at 1:00 pm at Lakeview Cemetery, Bellaire, Michigan with Pastor Wade Seaver from Hope Lutheran Church officiating.  Family and friends are asked to join.

Her family will miss her and carry her in their hearts until they join her in eternal life.
