Nellie Manas

Nellie Manas, 97, of Mancelona, passed away on July 30, 2013 at Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility. Nellie was born on November 13, 1915, in Ovid, MI., the daughter of James and Blanche (McCarrick) Gould. Nellie had been a Mancelona resident since the early 1970's and enjoyed gardening, crocheting, making clothes and loved to dress up and go out. She was a long time member of the Kingdom Hall. On March 21, 1932, she married James Manas who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were a daughter Barbara Ann Bricken, a grandson Alex James Harris, 2 sisters, Anna and Marita, 2 brothers, Willis and Louis as well as her parents. She is survived by 2 daughters, Rose Hagemeister of Mancelona, Donna (Richard) Miller of Fruitport, MI., a sister Grace Turke, 9 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Funeral services will take place on Friday, August 2 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Greg Wares will officiate. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Mancelona. Visitation will be on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. also at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Antrim County Commission on Aging.
