Natalie Joan Hansen, 85, of Bellaire made her reservation in Heaven on June 17, 2021.
Natalie was born to Leonard and Leora (Robinson) Bailey at their home near Clam Lake on August 10, 1935. She married her sweetheart, Bob Hansen, on December 19, 1952. Bob and Nat raised their family in Mancelona, and later moved to their forever home on Clam Lake. They enjoyed 40 years of marriage before he preceded her in death in 1993. Her parents also preceded her in death, as did her sister, Maxine, and her beloved cat, Toby.
Natalie was beautiful inside and out. She had a big and generous heart and was as kind and caring as anyone you could ever hope to meet. She instilled those qualities in her children, Sheri Ebert of Traverse City, and Chip (Laura) Hansen of East Jordan, who survive. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren also survive. Jana (Marc) Dennis of Hersey, Eric (Jacquline) Hansen and their sons, Rowan and Breck, of Northville and Scott (Rachel) Hansen and their son, Cooper, of Northville. Also surviving are special friends, Kathy “Kit” Doster and Ed Garlick.
Natalie worked alongside Doctor Miles Gingrich at his office in Mancelona for many years. Natalie loved her work and considered the patients as her family. “Doc,” and his wife, Lee, were Bob and Nat’s best friends and they enjoyed so many good times together through the years.
Natalie loved to cook and play games, and especially loved having her family at home. Her table was always an equal feast of good food, good conversation and laughter, all memories that those who loved her will carry with them forever.
Natalie spent her last years at Mallard Cove Assisted Living in Petoskey. Her family is ever grateful to Sarah, Susan, Michelle, Christie, Cody and the rest of the Mallard Cove team for the exceptional and loving care they provided throughout that time. Natalie loved and appreciated them, so much.
At Natalie’s request, a private service for the immediate family will be held later this year. Those wishing to honor Natalie’s life can consider a gift to the Robert and Natalie Hansen Endowment at the Grand Traverse Regional Community Foundation at 223 Lake Avenue, Suite B, Traverse City, Michigan 49684. Online gifts may be made at https://www.gtrcf.org/give/. This designated Endowment provides annual support for the good work of the Mancelona Education Foundation, benefitting the students of Mancelona Public Schools.
Arrangements have been handled by the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Please sign her online guestbook www.mortensenfuneralhomes.com.
