Naomi Heckendorn

Naomi Heckendorn, age 81 of Charlevoix passed away on February 20, 2018 at Grandvue Medical Care Facility.

Naomi was born on August 5, 1936 in Detroit to the late Milton and Ruth (Jay) Saperstein.

She worked for many years as an executive assistant for her husband, George in chemical sales.

Naomi’s greatest joy was her family and she was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Charlevoix. Naomi spent her free time volunteering for the school and many charities.

On February 7, 1961 in Detroit Naomi married George Heckendorn who survives. She is also survived by her children, Kirk (Kathryn) Heckendorn of Charlevoix, Dane Heckendorn of Charlevoix, Lisa Locke (Chad Jessup) of Wilbur, WA; grandchildren, Jacklyn (Kevin) Chadwick of East Lansing, Michael Heckendorn of Denver, CO, Carter Locke of Wilbur, WA, Callie And Cam Jessup of Wilbur, WA; great grandchildren, Sydney and Lucas Chadwick both of East Lansing, sisters-in-law, Joan Dunn of Peidmont, SC, Joan Heckendorn of Mt. Clemens and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister and brother-in-law, Gail and Dr. Daniel Cohen.

Funeral mass will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 26, 2018 at St. Mary Catholic Church with Fr. Peter Wigton officiating. Visitation will be held from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 25, 2018 at the Winchester Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Interment will take place in spring 2018 at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Charlevoix.
