Nancy Zimmerman

Nancy Lou Zimmerman, 85, of Ellsworth died peacefully Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at home.

Nancy was born February 7, 1932 in Detroit to Stanley and Estelle (Bos) Ruszkowski.

Nancy worked as a stenographer and executive secretary at Chrysler Corp in Detroit, Michigan.

On February 9, 1952 she married Alfred Kowalewski in Harper Woods, Michigan. They had three children; Sandra, Mark and Pamela. Alfred died in 1968. Nancy then married Alfred's brother Sigmund Kowalewski. Sigmund died in 1995. They had one daughter, Jennifer.

On December 21, 1999, she married William Zimmerman in Coral Springs, FL. They made their home in Ellsworth. They enjoyed bowling, fishing, camping and volunteering together in Ellsworth, Michigan.

Nancy was a member of the Ellsworth Wesleyan Church and the Ellsworth Lioness Club. She was a volunteer for many years at Good Samaritan Family Services in Ellsworth. Nancy enjoyed volunteering, crocheting, bowling, gardening, reading, crossword puzzles, and baking.

Surviving are her husband William (Bill) Zimmerman; children Sandra Sauer Stein (Donald Stein) of Ellsworth, Mark Kowalewski of Las Vegas, NV and Pamela (Daryl) Smith of Mesa, AZ; four grandchildren, Michael Sauer, Brian Sauer, T.J. Smith and Aubrey Smith; one great-granddaughter, Estella Sauer; and a brother, Stanley (Marti) Ruszkowski of Williamsburg, MI.; nephew James (Myongsoon) Olson, great-niece Christine Olson (Josh) and great-nephew Tim Olson; niece Connie Olson, stepchildren William Zimmerman Jr. (Christine), Deborah May Zimmerman (Dale) and Larry Zimmerman. She was preceded in death by husbands Alfred Kowalewski and Sigmund Kowalewski, sister Elaine Olson and daughter Jennifer Kowalewski.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 7th at 11 a.m. at the Ellsworth Wesleyan Church in Ellsworth, Michigan. Immediately following the service there will be a luncheon provided in the church hall.
