Nancy Loper

Nancy E. Loper, 81 of Kewadin, died Tues. May 8, 2012 at Munson Medical Center. She was born July 31, 1930, the daughter of Lawrence Sr. and Amy (Shonk) Wolgamott, in Massillon, OH. Nancy graduated in 1949 from Ellsworth High School and on March 7, 1953 in Atwood she married the love of her life, Robert L. Loper. Together they enjoyed 59 years of marriage, residing in Kewadin. Nancy cherished her family and loved taking care of her grandchildren. Nancy was an active member of the Kewadin United Methodist Church. Her church family was very important to her. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, and her time with the Elk Rapids Rescue Unit. She was also a great worker for the Elk Rapids Lions Club, Elk Lake Floral, and various other jobs. Surviving are her children Charlene (Robert) Widrig, Maureen (Doug) Gayford, Nancy (Charles) Drinkwine), Robert E. Loper, brothers Verl (Carolyn) Wolgamott, Lawrence Jr. (Wanda) Wolgamott, Gordon Wolgamott, Donald (Patricia) Wolgamott, 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother and sister-in-law John (Shirley) Wolgamott and grandson Wade Bargy. Funeral services will be held Fri. May 11, at 2 p.m. at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes with Pastor Eugene Baughan officiating. Interment will follow in Southern Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thurs. May 10, from 5 to 8 p.m. also at the funeral home and again one hour prior to the funeral on Fri. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Kewadin United Methodist Church or of ones choice.
