NANCY COLLINS-EAMES of Mancelona lost her battle with cancer at the age of 69 Thursday, August 9th, 2018. She is survived by two sons Dale “Bobby” Pearson of Harrison MI, and Keith Pearson (Dixie McDonald) of Mancelona, her Mother Ruby M. Collins of Mancelona, residing at Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility in Bellaire Michigan, Larry (Ila) Collins of St. Louis MI, Allen (Carol) Collins of Bay City MI, Jeff (Sandi) Collins of Simi Valley California. (3) grandchildren and (3) great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her Father Freddie Lee Collins, brother Paul Lee Collins, and her youngest son Clarence (PJ) Pearson.
Nancy worked at Traverse Bay Manufacturing as a seamstress / sewing machine operator in Elk Rapids. Nancy was very skilled and devoted to her job.
Nancy enjoyed fishing, taking Mom to the casino on occasion, picking blackberries in the fall and spending time with family. An accomplishment she was very proud of was being ordained as a non-denominational minister. She was a member of Cold Springs Christian Fellowship Church.
Nancy was a devoted caregiver to others. Her loving care to PJ during his lengthy illness, countless trips to see brother Paul to cook and clean and her unending help for our Mom Ruby was a godsend. Even while battling through her disease she would daily drive to Meadow Brook. In her words “I gotta see my Mom”, and continued until she was too weak to do so. Her selflessness, sacrifice and tenacity should be a model for the rest of us and will not be forgotten.
A memorial service will be held at Cold Springs Christian Fellowship Church, 532 S. Cedar St. Kalkaska, Mich. at 10 a.m. on August 18 2018, officiated by Rev. Brent Bontragar. Memorials can be sent for the wishes of the family, in care of Ruby Collins, P.O. Box 192, Mancelona, Mi. 49659. Please consider donations to the American Cancer Society.
