Nancy Braun

Nancy J. Braun, 73, of Central Lake, formerly of Midland, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2013 at her home, surrounded by her family and friends. Nancy was born on July 16, 1940, in Jackson, MI., the daughter of David and Florence (Shove) Reece. Nancy, before her retirement, was a social worker for the state of Michigan and spent many years in Bay County as well as other surrounding counties. She was instrumental in starting a "Back to Work" program which was a program that has been used throughout the state since it began. She graduated from MSU and was an "avid" Spartan fan. She enjoyed golfing, traveling, downhill skiing, cross country skiing, watching football and most of all spending time with her family, who will miss her greatly. She held memberships with the Reece Community Endeavor in Midland, (past President), the Civitan Club of Midland (past President), the First United Methodist Church of Midland, the Bellaire Lioness Club and the "Beautiful Belles" of Boyne City. On May 27, 1972, in Midland, she married Joseph Braun who survives her, they had been married for 42 years. Also surviving are a sister Sandra (Douglas) Butler of Beaverton, formerly of Midland, nieces and nephews, Dean (Lisa) Butler, David (Diana) Butler, Tonya Butler, Robert Braun, Laurie (Mike) Sheehan, David (Kate) Braun as well as many great nieces and great nephews. A memorial service will take place Mon. Oct. 28, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Midland. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
