NANCY C. BACON, 72, of Bellaire, passed away on Friday, June 17, 2011 at her home. Nancy was born on August 19, 1938 to the late Simon and Velma (Derenzy) Blake in Bellaire, MI. Her family were early settlers of Antrim County. Nancy was a loving and compassionate person. She was there to help her family and friends even before they knew the needed help. For many years Nancy worked side by side with her husband for Bacon Well Drilling. She was a familiar face at local craft fairs with her hand made jewelry. She worked for several years in Florida managing retail shops. She was a lifelong member of the Reformed Latter Day Saints Church in East Jordan. Her hobbies were jewelry making, "walking the beach", family history, contributing to the Bellaire Museum, pet sitting for family and friends, boating, fishing with her family. She was preceded in death by her son Gordon Bacon, brothers, Clare Jene and George William (Bill) Blake and her parents. Nancy is survived by her former husband, whom she married on June 20, 1959, the father of her children, and good friend Robert Bacon of Bellaire; two children, Trina (Gary) Lakies of Bellaire, Steven (Angela) Bacon of Bellaire, 7 grandchildren, Nikki, Gary, Derin, Erika, Steven, Alexis and Alivia, 2 great-grandchildren, Aydin and Paul, a sister-in-law Sandra Blake of Bellaire, a brother Keith (Joan) Blake of Texas and a sister Rosalie (Harry) Leehew of North Carolina. Nancy has been cremated and will be buried beside her son Gordon in Lakeview Cemetery, Bellaire. A memorial gathering and potluck luncheon will take place on Fri., July 1 from 2-6 p.m. at the Bellaire Senior Center. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
