Myrtle Christiansen

Myrtle Pauline Christiansen, 90, of Eastport, passed away January 11, 2017, at Grandvue Medical Care Facility in East Jordan. She was born October 21, 1926, in Sidney, Mich. to Peter and Minnie M. (Petersen) Christensen. Myrt attended school in Sidney and graduated from Stanton High School. On June 7, 1946, she married Kenneth Christiansen in Greenville. They made their home there where she was a member of the Lutheran Church. In 1965, they moved to Eastport, (Antrim City). Myrt worked in bookkeeping at Freedman Artcraft, the Charlevoix Co-op, and for the Elzinga Insurance Agency. She also worked as a housekeeper for families at the Belvedere Club in Charlevoix. Myrt enjoyed traveling and camping. She and Ken wintered in Arizona.

Myrt is survived by her husband Kenneth C. of Eastport; daughter, Mary (Silas) Doctor of East Jordan; son, David (Julie) Christiansen of Charlevoix; daughter-in-law, Paula Christiansen of Greenville; grandchildren, Andrea Doctor, Julia Graves, Steven Doctor, Daniel Doctor, TJ Christiansen, Brian Christiansen, and Laura Christiansen; ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Gerry in October, 2016.

Memorial service will be 1:00PM, Monday, January 16, at the Winchester Funeral Home in Charlevoix where visitation will begin at 11:00AM. Interment will take place in Brookside Cemetery in Charlevoix. Memorial contributions may be made to Good Samaritan Family Services, 9746 Main Street, Ellsworth, MI 49729.
