Mitchell E. Coon, 88, of Alba, passed away on October 10, 2014 at McReynolds Hall in Gaylord. Mitch was born on September 18, 1926, in Alba, the son of James and Anna (Valencourt) Coon. Mitch was a long time resident of Alba and worked for Dura Automotive in Mancelona for many years. He served in the U.S. Navy and enjoyed hunting and especially traveling to his cabin in the Upper Penninsula. Mitch is survived by 3 children, Rodney (Sue) Aldrich of Clam River, Ruth Ann Gates of Mancelona, Jackie (Ernie) Wcisel of Gaylord, 2 sisters, Elsie Anderson of Flint, Fern Smith of Mancelona, 12 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Pauline in 2006, 2 sons, Rex and Ray Aldrich, 4 brothers, George, James, Edward, and Charles Coon, a sister Lillian Bates, 3 grandsons, Randy Aldrich, Dewey Goff, James Lucas and a granddaughter Dawn Aldrich. There will be a gathering at the Alba Sportsman Club on Saturday, October 18, 2014 from 12 noon to 3 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alba Sportsman Club.
