Mildred L. Davis, 91, lifelong resident of Central Lake, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family Mon. Feb. 14, 2011, at home. She was born Sept. 26, 1919, in Petoskey, the daughter of Earl Everett and Mary Louise (Moses) Updike. Millie was a lifetime member of Snowflake Spiritualist Camp & Church. She was also a member of the Central Lake Lionesses, Historical Society, and First Congregational Church. She worked many years at Second Chance Body Armor. Millie enjoyed cooking, sewing, knitting, cross stitch, and china painting. She also loved to spend time on the lake boating and fishing with her family and friends. Millie enjoyed traveling, especially to Grand Cayman Island. On May 15, 1942, in Highland Park, she married Clinton E. Davis who preceded her in death in 1997 after 55 years of a beautiful marriage. Millie is survived by her children Richard Davis and Patricia (Glen) Crawford both of Central Lake, grandchildren Andrew (Courtney) Davis, Matthew Davis, David (Carrie) Ryan, Kathryn Ryan-Devore, great grandchildren Avery, Grant, Hayden, Lola, Cameron, Angel, and Trinity, Step-grandchildren Summer (Bruce) Jordan, Christine Crawford, step great grandchildren Alexandria, Taylor, Dominic, and Emerald, and cousin Mary Lou Johnson. Funeral services will be held Thurs., Feb. 17, at 11 a.m. at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes with Rev. Gloria Ward officiating. Interment will be in Southern Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wed. Feb. 16 from 4 to 7 p.m. also at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be directed to Snowflake Spiritualist Camp & Church, First Congregational Church of Central Lake, Central Lake Area Historical Society or the American Cancer Society.
