Mildred Blackwell

Mildred Blackwell, 86, of Central Lake, died on February 23, 2012 at Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility. Mildred was born on March 24, 1925 in Central Lake, the daughter of Carleton and Edna (McDowell) Meggison. Mildred took care of people much of her life. She worked at Meadow Brook for 26 years and then ran an adult foster care home for several years after that. She loved her garden and flowers and always enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was a past member of the Central Lake Ladies Auxilliary and was named the Resident of the Month during her stay at Meadow Brook. She is survived by two sons, Allan and Marvin Blackwell, a brother Robert (Margie) Meggison of Central Lake, a sister Betty Ann Glasgow of Central Lake, 9 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband James Blackwell, a sister Alice Edwards and her parents. In following Mildred's wishes there will be no services. Memorial contributions may be made to Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility. Arrangements are being handled by the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
