Michael Watters

Michael Watters, 73 of Central Lake passed away October 8, 2023 at Munson Medical Center, with family and friends surrounding him.  Michael was born in Saginaw to Melvin and Frances Watters.

   Mike was fondly remembered as Iron Mike, Big Mike, Pizza Mike, and Grandpa Treats, to name a few nicknames he had over the years.  He had many jobs before he started at General Motors in Saginaw, and when he retired he started his own woodshop.  Woodworking was his gift from God and his motto was “I am only limited by your imagination”.

   He enjoyed cooking and baking, and shared many of his goodies around town.  He loved to read, including the bible many times through, and he cooked for youth camp for over 20 years. 

   On January 6^th of 1974 he married Deborah J. (Deford) Watters who survives.  Also surviving are 3 children, Daniel (Michelle) Watters of Frankenmuth, Sarah M. Gilbert of Bay City, Joshua (Raeann) Watters of Bay City, 8 grandchildren Azaria Gonzales, Anthony (Alexandria) Gonzales, Adam Watters, Matthias Watters, Michael Miller, Celise Miller, Colton Watters, Charles Watters, great grandson Anthony Gonzales III,  sister Sandra Aaron, sisters-in-law Karen Watters, Cheryl (Bill) Mielke, Lori Brown, brother-in-law David (Sue) DeFord, many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles. 

   He was preceded in death by his mother Frances Watters Neville, his father Melvin Watters, his sister Patricia Friot, his brother Timothy Watters and his brother-in-law John Aaron.

   A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, October 22, at 2 p.m. at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes with Pastor Gary Bekkering officiating.  The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the time of service.  In lieu of flowers you may like to give a donation in Mike’s name to his favorite charity, The Good Samaritan Family Services of Ellsworth, P.O.
