Michael Wallick

Michael Jay Wallick, 67, of Ellsworth, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 9, 2023 at Bay Bluffs Medical Care Facility in Harbor Springs.  He was born on September 27, 1955, in Holland, MI, the son of Raymond and Ruth (VanAnrooy) Wallick.

Shortly after Mike was born, he and his family moved from Holland to Bellaire before purchasing what would become the family farm in Ellsworth soon after.  They moved to Iron River for a few years and eventually returned to Ellsworth permanently.  Mike graduated from Ellsworth High School and went on to work at the Holiday Gas Station in Charlevoix where he worked his way up to the assistant manager position.  He also worked with his father and brother building log homes for Boyne Falls Log Homes.

Mike spent a lot of time outside playing on the family farm growing up.  He enjoyed spending time with his horses over the years, and even won a 4-H award for horsemanship.  He also liked waterskiing, riding his motorcycle, and riding his go-kart built from a Sears lawnmower.

Mike is survived by five siblings, Ray (Victoria) Wallick of Ellsworth, Marybeth Wallick of Ellsworth, Robert (Elizabeth) Wallick of Cross Village, Eileen Wallick of Ellsworth, and Patricia (Eugene) Drenth of Ellsworth; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A graveside service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 13, at Atwood Cemetery in Banks Township.  Visitation will take place from noon until the time of services at 1:00, also at the cemetery.
