Michael T. Moeke, 41, of Mancelona, passed away Sunday, November 7, 2010.
Mike was born on May 9, 1969 in Kalkaska, MI, the son of Barry and Ann Moeke.
Mike was an avid outdoorsman and he loved teaching his boys about hunting, fishing and anything outdoors. He valued hard work and helping others in need. He was truly a one of a kind man. He was very proud to carry on his family's business into the 5th generation as current owner of Moeke Lumber. He loved being with his family. His greatest pride and joy were his two boys.
On August 20, 1992 in the Virgin Islands, he married Kristine Newpower who survives. Also surviving are his two sons, Braedon and Drew; two sisters, Amy (David) Derrer of Mancelona, Pam (Robert) McIntosh of DeWitt; parents, Barry and Ann Moeke of Mancelona; mother-in-law Ginny (George) Moeke of Mancelona; father-in-law, George Newpower of Kingston, TN; grandmother, Maureen Moeke of Williamsburg; six nieces and nephews, Annie and Tommy McIntosh, Wyatt, Kallie, Cody and Garrett Derrer; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, George Moeke; maternal grandmother and grandfather, Dollie and Harold Weiser; uncle, Tom Moeke-Gocha; cousin, John Moeke; and nieces, Kay and Ann Derrer.
A Celebration of Life service will take place on Friday, November 12, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mancelona United Methodist Church with Pastor Todd Shafer officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 3 - 7 PM at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen funeral home.
