Michael LaPeer

Michael A. LaPeer, 61, of East Jordan, passed away on April 15, 2014 at his home.

Mike was born on November 29, 1952, in Petoskey, the son of August and Isabell (Fuller) LaPeer.

Mike enjoyed many outdoor activities, especially, fishing, hunting, camping and mushroom hunting.

He was a member of the Boyne City Eagles and loved doing toy runs on his motorcycle to help children receive Christmas gifts.

He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army.

On December 10, 1988, in Pleasant Valley, MI, he married Sheila R. Willson who survives. Also surviving are 4 children, Tomas Cutler of Traverse City, Andrea (Timothy) Downing of East Jordan, Burton Cortez of East Jordan, Corrine (Michael) Jepsen of Mancelona, his mother Isabell LaPeer of East Jordan, 2 brothers, Gary (Brenda) LaPeer of East Jordan, Dennis (Patti) LaPeer of Boyne City, a sister Connie (Jerry) Smith of PA, 8 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father August LaPeer and a brother Richard LaPeer.

Funeral services will take place on Saturday, April 19 at 1:00 p.m. at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Rev. Dave Scott will officiate. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services.

Interment will take place in Southern Cemetery, Central Lake.
