Michael Grody

Michael Howard Grody, 68, of Mancelona, passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at Kalkaska Memorial Health Center.   He was born on February 7, 1955, in Bellaire, the son of Howard and Shirley (Harrington) Grody. 

Mike was an avid outdoorsman and he loved teaching his children and grandsons about hunting, fishing, camping and morel mushroom hunting.  Mike was especially proud of his four grandsons. Mike was an exceptional carpenter, he appreciated hard work and helping others in need. Mike valued family more than anything. 

On June 30, 1979 he married the love of his life Lori, who survives.  He is also survived by his children Jeremy (Jennifer) Grody, Kelly (Michael) Kirby, Kari Grody;  Grandchildren, Noah Roberts, Jakob Kirby, Logan Grody, David Blair III,   Mother Shirley Grody;  Siblings, Barb Harkabusic, Ervin Grody, Marilyn Miller, Eric “Rick” (Pam) Grody, Chip (Jackie) Grody and Karen Grody and many nieces and nephews.   He was preceded in death by his father Howard Grody, brother-in-law Ray Harkabusic and his best friend Mike Moeke. 

A Funeral Service will take place at 3:00pm on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.  Visitation will be held on Friday, February 2nd from 5:00pm to 8:00pm and again on Saturday February 3rd from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. 

A luncheon will be held after the funeral service at the Mancelona High School.
