Micha Castaneda

Micha Leigh Castaneda, 40, of Traverse City, passed away on Tuesday, August 13, 2024.  She was born on April 14, 1984, in South Dakota, the daughter of Claudio and Patricia (Sineway) Castaneda.

Micha was a member of the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians.  She worked as both a busser and a housekeeper at Leelanau Sands Resort and Casino for many years.  She enjoyed meeting new people and was always one to strike up a conversation, even with a complete stranger.  She also liked going for walks and attending powwows.

Micha is survived by her three children, James Jr., Oralia, and Jazmine; her mother, Patricia Castaneda; two sisters, Michelle Castaneda, and Sonya Castaneda; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Claudio Castaneda; and her daughter, Patricia.

A funeral service will take place at 12:00 p.m. om Monday, August 19, 2024, at the Charlevoix Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.  Pastor Sam McClellan will officiate.  Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services at 12:00.
