Melvin G. Winstone, 75, of East Jordan, passed away on January 18, 2024 at McLaren Hospital in Flint.
He was born on June 29, 1948, in Charlevoix, the son of George W. Winstone and Jean Esther Case.
Melvin's first love was fishing. Not only did he enjoy it as a hobby but he was a commercial fisherman for many years. He also enjoyed woodworking and was a member of the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians.
Surviving are 9 children, George, Danny, Deanna Curcio, Aaryka McCauley, Melvin Winstone II, Santonya Winstone, Cheyenne Winstone, Aydryiona Winstone, Odessa Winstone, 19 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and a sister Jody Underwood.
Preceding him in death were his parents, a brother John Alexander Case and a sister Rose Marie Lisk.
Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Charlevoix Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
Burial will take place in the spring at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Charlevoix.
Arrangements are in the care of the Charlevoix Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
