Mearry E. Dalton

Mearry Elizabeth Dalton, 88, a lifelong resident of Mancelona passed away peacefully on December 22, 2022.

Mearry was born to Earl and Eva (Beebe) Tipton on June 26, 1934.  She was one of 13 children born of this union.

October 6, 1951 she married Lloyd Dalton who preceeded her in death in 2006.  Together they had 4 children, Sally Milam, Rick (Kim) Dalton, Amy (Otto) Petersen, all of Mancelona Danny (Karen) Dalton of Houston, TX, 9 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

Mearry had various jobs but she was first and foremost a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

She had many talents and especially enjoyed embroidery and quilting for which she won ribbons at local fairs.   Other interests included picnics, camping, snow shoeing, snowmobiling and long car rides.

A major accomplishment was returning to school graduating and receiving her diploma as an adult.  Her new found computer skills led her to write her own autobiography and a Dalton family history.  She also used these skills to become involved in research and writing for the Mancelona Historical Society.

As a Christian and devoted follower of Christ, Mearry was a shining example of how we should live.

The family would like to express their gratitude for the exemplary care given to her by the staff at Kalkaska Memorial Health Center.  They became an extended family to her.  She will be missed by all.

A Eulogy will be held at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes, Thursday, December 29, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. with visitation following until 2:30 p.m.
