Maxine Hooker passed away at Tendercare in Gaylord on July 10, 2015 the age of 72. She was born Maxine J. Kemp in Petoskey on October 10, 1942, and graduated from Petoskey High School in 1960.
Maxine enjoyed her family, reading, doll making, ceramics and canning goods from the garden. She was a member of Charlevoix Untied Methodist Church for many years.
Maxine is survived by Charles her loving husband of 53 years. They were married in Petoskey on January 23, 1962.
Maxine is lovingly remembered by her husband Charles; daughters, Mary Lou (Jim) Hodge of Sanford Fla., Lisa (Derrick) Carroll of Charlevoix; and son, Mark Hooker of Charlevoix; grandsons, Brian (Shelley) French of Portsmouth,Va., Bradly French of Nichols, N.Y..; granddaughters, Victoria Carroll of Charlevoix, Anastasia Carroll of Charlston S.C.; great-grandsons, Aiden and Bradly; great-granddaughters, Alexis Amiah and Alexis Riley; brother, Frank (Betty) Kemp of Gaylord; sister, Lillian Miller of Barryton.
Maxine is predeceased by her parents, William and Gladys (Dennison) Kemp; sisters, Mary Lou, Evelyn, and Ruth; brother, William (Bill).
Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Wednesday, July 15, at the Winchester Funeral Home in Charlevoix.
The funeral service will be 11 am, Thursday, July 16, at the Winchester Funeral Home. The Reverend Dan Bowman of the Gaylord First United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will follow at Brookside Cemetery in Charlevoix.
