MAXINE L. HEERES 69, of Mancelona, died on Sun., Oct. 12, 2008 at her home. Maxine was born on Nov. 1, 1938 in Angola, IN., the daughter of Lawrence and Faye (Ordway) Green. Maxine was a resident of Mancelona since 1981 where she was employed by Dura Automotive and was a long time member of the Antrim Church of Christ. She was the director of the Mancelona Food Pantry and resale shop and enjoyed collecting antiques. On April 15, 1978 in Kalkaska County, she married Donald L. Heeres who survives. Also surviving are 5 children, Michael (Juanita) Bechtol of Freemont, IN., Diane (Jerry) Zundel of Kalkaska, Ivan Bechtol of Coldwater, Randy Bechtol and Frederick (Leanne) Bechtol both of Mancelona, four stepsons, Doug (Renea) Heeres of Fayette, OH., David Heeres of Ellsworth, Duane (Tamara) Heeres of California, Danny (Sue) Heeres of Evansport, IN., a brother Paul (Darlene) Green of Edon, OH., brother in law George Wills of Hamilton, IN., 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, 8 step grandchildren, 1 step-great grandson. Preceding her in death were three sisters Opal (Max) Myers, Lois (Jim) Reddy, Helen Wills, two brothers, Spike and Robert Green. Funeral services will take place on Friday, October 17, 2008 at Two p.m. at the Antrim Church of Christ in Mancelona. Pastor Mark McCool will officiate. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Mancelona. Visitation will take place on Thurs., from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. also at the Antrim Church of Christ. Memorial contributions may be made to the Antrim Church of Christ or to the Mancelona Food Pantry. Arrangements are being handled by the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
