MAX RUSHTON

MAX W. RUSTHON, 79, of Mancelona, died on Sat., April 17, 2010 at Munson Hospice House. Max was born on March 18, 1931 in Leelanau County, Michigan, the son of William and Lucinda (DeLine) Rushton. Max was a Mancelona resident since 1972 and owned and operated a barber shop before retiring in 1999. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard in the early 50's and was a long time member of the Mancelona American Legion. He enjoyed outdoor activities, especially hunting, fishing and mushroom hunting. On January 13, 1954 in Traverse City, he married Wanda Stein who survives. Also surviving are a son Ron (Melissa) Rushton of Engadine, MI., two grandchildren, Collin and Chance, three sisters, Maxine Boone of Suttons Bay, Bernadine Burkholder of Williamsburg and Billie Brown of Mancelona. He was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings. Memorial services will take place on Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at One p.m. at the Antrim Church of Christ. Yousef "Yogi" Jabara will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mancelona American Legion, P.O. Box 641, Mancelona, MI., 49659.
