Maureen A. McClintock, 73, passed away on November 25, 2021, at her home in Charlevoix, Michigan. On May 25, 1948, Maureen was born in Lansing, Michigan, the daughter of Ralph and Elizabeth (Johnson) McClintock.
Maureen was a follower of Christ for many years. She was a person of strong faith and high integrity. She was a prayer warrior and an encourager to many. Her boys have fond memories of seeing her praying and reading her Bible and living out her faith in her everyday life.
Maureen earned a degree in Christian Education in 1970 and a double master’s degree from Bethany Nazarene College in Bethany, Oklahoma, and became a university professor. She spent over ten years as a missionary in Southern Africa with her family.
Maureen was well known for having a quick wit and a joyful sense of humor. She loved to laugh and loved people. One way Maureen shared love with her family and friends was by making handicrafts. She often crocheted, knitted, and quilted—blessing those she loved with her remarkable gifts. She was an amazing, compassionate, and generous lady who had a love of history, language, and teaching. The family’s heart aches, but they grieve with hope knowing Jesus has met her for her eternal reward.
She is survived by her family whom she dearly loved, her three sons: Brian (wife, Melissa) Schmelzenbach of Eswatini, Africa, Barry (wife, Celestia) Schmelzenbach of Oklahoma City, OK, Burt (wife, Megan) Schmelzenbach of Charlevoix; a brother Scott (wife, Rhonda) McClintock of Gilbert, AZ, a sister Marlys (husband, Robert) Drebenstedt of Charlevoix and four grandchildren: Kathryn Schmelzenbach Reigard (husband, Seth) & Peyton Schmelzenbach, both of Nashville Tennessee, Clare Schmelzenbach of St. Augustine, Florida and Vien Schmelzenbach of Daytona, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ralph and Betty McClintock.
The family will gather in Charlevoix, Michigan, to celebrate her life on her birthday in 2022. She will be interred in Brookside Cemetery, Charlevoix.
