Mary “Lee” Brown, 97 of Central Lake died November 12, 2021 in Charlevoix. She was born Oct. 24, 1924 in Gallup, New Mexico the daughter of Frank and Anna McKim.
Lee met the love of her life Richmond Brown at Geology Camp at the University of Missouri and they married Jan. 13, 1945. She was a devoted educator for many years as they traveled the United States for work. She loved her jobs as both a special education teacher and museum docent.
Lee was an incredibly talented craftswoman who loved playing the piano, painting, knitting, and exploring the outdoors. Lee was a wonderful chef and an amazing host to her family and friends. She was a doting dog mother to many dogs in her lifespan, and who always had spare treats in her pocket to share.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband Richmond, her sons Kirk (Ione) Brown of Roseville, MN, Kevin (Pat) Brown of Sheperdstown, WV, grandchildren and great grandchildren Ian (Molly) Greta, Britta, & Mila Brown and Laura Brown. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Betty Brake.
