Marye Williams

Marye Lee (Lockman) Williams, 81 of Mancelona passed away peacefully October 21, 2014 surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer. Marye was born in Alden on April 8, 1933, daughter of Lloyd and Marion Lockman. She married Donald E. Williams, April 16, 1949 and moved to Waterford, MI. Marye Lee was the secretary for Williams Brothers Plumbing and Heating Corporation in Waterford for twenty years. She and Don moved back to Mancelona where they were born and raised. She was a driver attendant on the volunteer ambulance service for the Village of Mancelona. She and Don were very supportive of the schools in the Parent-Teacher organization. She retired from the T.B.A. Mancelona Public Schools as a Bus Aide for the Mental, Physical and Emotional Handicapped from Mancelona to Traverse City after thirteen years. She and Don were very active in starting the Mancelona (Jabara) Health Clinic and was the secretary for that and the Mancelona Area Historical Society. She was a member of the Mancelona United Methodist Church. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A special memory that she always held close to her heart was when she and her sisters made porcelain dolls together. Marye Lee is survived by three children, Donald Jr. "Jake" (Joan) Williams of Traverse City, Stacy (Jim) Udell of Mancelona and Christopher (Mary) Williams of Grand Rapids; grandchildren, Donald III (Misty) Williams, Jonathan (Amanda) Williams, Kendra Udell, James (Ashley) Udell, Ryan and Matthew Williams; great-grandchildren, Ezra, Hailey Carter, Issac, Elliona, Madison, Kiera, Tylar, Kate and Stevie; siblings, Verna Weeks, Kenneth (Brenda) Lockman, Lloyd "Bud" Lockman, Jerrold (Lee) Lockman, Michael Lockman, Charles (MaryAnn) Lockman; many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one sister, two brother in laws and two sister in laws. A graveside service will take place 11 a.m. Monday, October 27, 2014 at Fairview Cemetery, Mancelona. A luncheon will immediately follow the service at the Mancelona United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mancelona United Methodist Church or the Antrim County Baby Pantry.
