MaryAnn Maddison, 89, of Central Lake, died peacefully, Fri. Sept. 28, 2013 at Highland Hospice House. She was born Sept. 17, 1924 in Doniphan, MO, the third of seven children to Dolly (McKinney) and Emmett Trowbridge. MaryAnn grew up on various farms in Southfield. In 1942 she went to San Antonio, TX to marry Carlton Everett. After the war they bought a house in Southfield and later in Farmington Hills where they had 1 daughter Laurie. When younger, MaryAnn enjoyed roller and ice skating, snow skiing, golf, bowling, dancing and card club. In 1964 she was widowed and took over ownership and operation of Everett Equipment, Inc. in Southfield and became a single mother. In 1968 she purchased a place on Intermediate Lake and the fun really began. In 1970 she married Harry Maddison and the family was expanded when Harry shared his two sons with her. They continued in business until it was sold in 1973 and they retired. MaryAnn and Harry spent their summers at the lake and their winters mostly in Flagler Beach, FL. MaryAnn has always enjoyed exploring nature, taking walks, rock hunting, walking the beach looking for shells and beach glass. She also enjoyed antiquing, cooking and baking. Most of all she enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren. In 1994 MaryAnn was widowed again and was also preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers Bill and Max Trowbridge. She is survived by a daughter Laurie (Todd) Strauss, two sons John (Myrna) Maddison and Norman (Karen) Maddison, grandchildren Meghan (Justin) Valantas, Marylouise (J.) Swindall, Johnny (Traci) Maddison, Scott (Mollie) Maddison, Marc (Rebecca) Maddison, great grandchildren Blake, Brock, Emma, and Evan. MaryAnn was a woman of deep faith in Jesus Christ who lived and died at peace, secure in her beliefs. Funeral services will be held Mon. Sept. 30, at 2 p.m. at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes with Pastor Gary Bekkering officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Bellaire. The family will receive friends Sun. Sept. 29, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
