Mary Wilma Watrous Yettaw passed away Nov. 8, 2012 at the age of 91. Wilma was born Jan. 27, 1921 in Alden the daughter of Lois and Floyd Slocum. She resided in Antrim County for most of her life. Wilma was born into a family that helped settle Antrim County in the 1800's. At the age of 13 Wilma met her future husband at a grange hall dance. She married Harry Watrous at the age of 16 and raised 4 children in the next 40 years. Her home was always full of her children and their friends. There was always room at the table for one more. After Harry's death in 1976, Wilma married Thale Yettaw of Ellsworth whom she also met at a dance. They were married for 26 years, until his death in 2003. They owned the family resort, Yettaws Cottages in Ellsworth. Wilma was most proud of her role as homemaker, wife and mother. She is survived by 2 daughters; Mary Smith and Sandra Blake, a daughter in law, Sally Watrous all of Bellaire, sister Arlene Rosenburg of Kalkaska, her friend and companion Larry Wynsma of East Jordan, 10 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Wilma was preceded in death by her 2 sons Daryl and Donald Watrous, grandson Cory Smith, brother Wayne Slocum and son in law Bill Blake. Her last 4 years were spent at Eastport Village Care Home. Her family would like to thank their entire dedicated staff for the excellent care she had received. A celebration of Wilma's life will be held Sat., Nov.24th at 1 p.m. at the Bellaire Senior Center. Memorial donations in her memory can be made to any Antrim County Food Pantry. We trust she is now dancing in Heaven!!
