MARY E. WIGHT, 67, of Central Lake, passed away on June 2, 2010 at her home. Mary was born on February 28, 1943 in Detroit, the daughter of Bernard and Goldie (Leukel) Riggs. Mary was a very generous person and always had an open home to everyone. Last 4th of July she hosted over 100 people at her home. She loved being surrounded by her family and friends, and enjoyed golfing, snow skiing, travelling northern Michigan and the world, cooking and was known as a lucky gambler. She handled adversity with grace, never complained and had a very strong constitution in fighting her disease. She had a lot of dear friends and was loved by everyone she knew. She never asked for much from her friends and family but gave her all to others. She worked 21 years in the Farmington Public Schools with the severely mentally impaired. She is survived by her husband of 44 years Gary Wight. Also surviving are her two sons, Tim (Jena) Wight of Los Angeles, CA. , Todd (Aimee) Wight of Chicago, IL. , three grandchildren, Laurel, Sierra and Aspen, a brother David (Sandi) Riggs of Clive, N.C., brother-in-law Bill Wight of Central Lake, mother-in-law Mary Jane Wight of Central Lake, several nieces, nephews and many, many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister-in-law Diane Wight and father-in-law Arthur Wight. Funeral services will take place on Sat., June 5 at 4:00 p.m. at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Pastor David Wood will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until the time of services. Visitation will also be from 4-8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
