Mary Shannon

MARY J. SHANNON, 83, of Alba, died on Fri., May 16, 2008 at her home. Mary was born on Nov. 19, 1924 in Detroit, the daughter of Hank and Mary (Sepelic) Blitchok. Mary was a lifelong resident of Alba who enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking and spending time with her grandchildren. On May 4, 1940, in Kalkaska, she married Ralph Shannon who preceded her in death in 1988. Also preceding her in death were two infants, John and Kathy Shannon, a daughter Caroline Shannon, a grandson Ricky Shannon, a great grandson Jacob Stotler, a sister Eva Kitchen, two brothers, John and Bill Blitchok and her parents. She is survived by a daughter Anna May (Richard) Cantrell of Mancelona, a son Ralph Shannon of Alba, a brother George (Viola) Davis of Elmira, two sisters, Lillian Calvin of Mancelona, Annie Davis, 5 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held on Mon., May 19 at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Yousef "Yogi" Jabara officiated. Interment was in Star Township Cemetery in Alba.
