Mary Elizabeth Ricksgers 84, of Alden, died Sunday, November 30, 2008 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. She was born May 20, 1924 in Detroit, the daughter of Carl and Catherine (Higgins) Huddlestone. Betty spent most of her life in the Mancelona area. She graduated from Mancelona High School in 1942. She was a home maker and farmer. On May 8, 1943 she married Henry Ricksgers who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her parents, brother Jack Huddlestone, daughter Beverly Dewey. Betty was the mother of Robert (Brenda) Ricksgers of Alden; grandmother of Christine (Paul) Dewey-Broering of Alden, Patrick (Corina) Dewey of Alden, Thomas Ricksgers of Gilbert, AZ, Matthew Ricksgers of Atlanta, GA; great grandmother of Seryna and Ciera Broering and Rebeca and Anna Dewey; step grandmother of jack Parker of Holton, William Parker US Navy, Camp Pendleton, CA, Kristie (Chris) Hall of Twin Lake; step great grandmother of Lindsay Parker, Zakarie Parker, and Ashley and Brooke Hall. A funeral Mass was held Tuesday, December 2, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Mancelona. Memorials may be directed to St. Anthony Catholic Church.
