Mary Ella Patton, 93, of East Jordan, passed away on April 26, 2014 at Grandvue Medical Care Facility.
Mary was born on September 14, 1920 in Grand Haven, MI, the daughter of George and Lillian (Bryant) Nickerson.
Mary was a long time resident of East Jordan where she was instrumental in building the Full Gospel Truth Church, currently known as the Celebrate Church in East Jordan. She is currently the eldest member of the church.
She loved her church and being an active part of it. She also enjoyed traveling, crocheting, reading and spending time with her grandchildren and her family.
On November 9, 1936, in Central Lake, she married Herman “Bo” Patton who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were 2 sons, Thomas Patton, George Patton, a grandson Jerry Patton, brother Chuck Nickerson, sister Ruby Austin, a son-in-law Arnold “Butch” Frohriep as well as her parents.
She is survived by 6 children, Jim (Diane) Patton of Kingman, AZ, Willard (Mary) Patton of Pikeville, TN, Karen Frohriep of Boyne City, Sharon (Mike) Murphy of Henager, AL, Randy Patton of DeSoto, IL, Chris (Diane) Patton of Pikeville, TN, 23 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, several great-great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, a sister Ruth (Richard) Fales of Wyoming, MI, and a daughter-in-law Norma Patton of East Jordan.
Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, April 30 at 11:00 a.m. at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
Visitation will be on Tuesday from 3-7 p.m. also at the funeral home.
Interment will follow in Southern Cemetery, Central Lake Township.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
