Mary Murton

Mary Patricia "Pat" Murton of Central Lake joined her husband Tom in the arms of the Lord Dec. 21st, 2012. She was born in Ogdensburg, N.Y. January 1st, 1923 to William and Helen Loughren. Pat enjoyed her childhood in upstate New York where she met and married Thomas E. Murton a Navy submarine Veteran Dec. 16th, 1942. In 1953 they relocated to Detroit and raised three children who survive Lawrence (Dale) Murton of Central Lake, Robert Murton of Torch River, and Karen (Charlie Davis) Holman of Williamsburg. After many years of skiing and summering in Northern Michigan they retired to Central Lake in May 1983. Tom preceded her in death July 23, 1983. Pats's life centered on Family and she loved to cook her famous Pot Roast and perfect apple pie for Sunday dinners. The Joy of her life were her four grandchildren, Shane Murton, Jennifer (Doug) Cary, Tom (Jodi) Murton, India Holman and her eight great-grandchildren who will all miss her dearly. She has a sister Kay Espisito of Ocala Fla who survives and two sisters Florence MacDonald and Rita Stevenson and a brother Charlie Loughren who preceded her in death. Pat was an avid skier and Ski Patrol supporter. She rode motorcycles and enjoyed reading on her porch. At her request, those who love her will celebrate her life on her 90th birthday Jan 1st, 2013 at her home. Remembrance may be directed to Schuss Mt Ski Patrol, or the Antrim Co. Commission on Aging.
