Mary Louise Morris, 81, of East Jordan passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at Grandvue Medical Care Facility. She was born on September 16, 1938 in Banks Township, the daughter of Howard and Myrtle (Hoffman) Nyland.
Mary graduated from East Jordan High School in 1956. On June 22, 1957, she married Darwin Morris in East Jordan. They were married for 58 years until his passing in 2015. Together, they raised three sons and one daughter. Mary ran a daycare while her children were young, and then cleaned houses for many years. She then became a cook at East Jordan High School and retired after 17 years. The most important things in her life were church and her family. She enjoyed cooking and baking for everyone, as well as volunteering at the food pantry.
She is survived by four children, Edward Morris of East Jordan, Timothy Morris of East Jordan, James (Clara) Morris of East Jordan, and Judy (Todd) Richards of East Jordan; two brothers, Bert (Nancy) Nyland and William Nyland; a sister, Carol (Gary) Craig; 17 grandchildren; and 27 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Darwin Morris; and two sisters, Joyce Kidder and Debbie Cadeaux.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at the East Jordan Methodist Church, 201 4th St., East Jordan, MI 49727.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Dementia Society of America, or the United Methodist Church of East Jordan.
