Mary E. Moore, 86, life long resident of Charlevoix, died Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Charlevoix Area Hospital surrounded by her family.  She was born August 12, 1932 in Charlevoix the daughter of Curtis and Elizabeth (Sharrow) Dixon.

Mary enjoyed taking care of people and was a dedicated employee.  She worked over 20 years at the A&W Restaurant before it closed and for 5 years as a CNA at Bortz Nursing Home.  She will be most remembered for making all the ice cream at Murdick’s Homemade Ice Cream shop from 1987-2004.

Bowling in her younger years, reading, crocheting, knitting and making pies were some of her favorite hobbies.  She loved when her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren would come to visit and always looked forward to seeing them.

Mary is survived by her children Dianne (Kirt) Eggers of Bay Shore, Gary Moore of VA, James Moore of TX, Thomas (Rita) Moore, Joe Moore, and Lyddy (Tom) Morrison all of Charlevoix.  She is also survived by her sister Louise Wells of AZ, brothers Thomas Dixon of Charlevoix, Louie (Bonnie) of MA, Maurice (Rosemary) Dixon of Charlevoix, 13 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband Richard in 2012, her brother Raymond (Nancy) Dixon, and grandchildren Jeremy, Matthew, and Jenielle Eggers.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Thursday, September 13, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Charlevoix Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Home.  Graveside services will follow in Brookside Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the charity of ones choice in her memory.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Mary’s granddaughter Tasha and her husband Justin for taking such wonderful care of her over the years.
