Mary McCarthy

Mary Louise McCarthy of Bellaire, Michigan and North Ft. Myers, Florida died Wednesday, September 2, 2009 surrounded by her family at Charlevoix Area Hospital. She was born June 14, 1930 in Detroit, the daughter of William and Anna (O'Rourke) Rourk. Beloved wife of the late Francis McCarthy; they were married on September 28, 1950. Mary resided in Southgate for 34 years at worked at the J. L. Hudson Company for 25 years. Mary was the loving mother of seven children: Kathy (Tim) McCarthy; Daniel (Karen) McCarthy; Mary (Keith) Moody; Linda McCarthy; the late Patty (Philip) Nickerson; Joseph (Terri) McCarthy and Michael (Valerie) McCarthy. Mary is survived by a sister, Peggy (Kenneth) Morgan and a brother, Thomas (Dolly) Rourk. She was preceded in death by sisters Betty (Fred) Schmidt and Barbara (Victor) Rossi and a brother, William (Mary Ellen) Rourk. Mary is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and good friends. The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 12, at the Servant Church of St. Alexander, Shiawassee, Farmington Hills, Michigan at 10:30 a.m., prior to a funeral mass at 11 a.m. Arrangements by the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
