Mary H. Kaczan, 89, of Kewadin passed away on April 12, 2018 at her home.

Mary was born on February 24, 1929 in River Rouge, MI to the late Ernest and Mamie (Marot) Sigler.

Mary graduated high school at Our Lady of Lourdes in River Rouge. Mary worked at home raising her 7 children. She enjoyed spending her time having fun with her family, reading, donating time to church, watching Elvis Presley movies and listening to Elvis Presley sing.

Mary is survived by her children, Michael (Kathleen) Kaczan, Carol (Fred) Napier, Susan Young, Kathleen Kaczan and Elizabeth Kaczan; 9 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren and sister, Ann Miexner.

On February 26, 1949 at St. Alfreds Catholic Church in Taylor, MI Mary married the love of her life, Alexander Kaczan, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her son, David Kaczan; daughter, Marion Kaczan; brother, Ernest Sigler; sisters, Clara and Roberta Sigler and her parents.

Visitation will be from 4:30 until 6:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Elk Rapids, with a Divine Mercy Chaplet at 6:30 and the Vigil for Mary at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 20, 2018. Mass from the Order of Christian Funerals will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 21, 2018 with Rev. Robert J. Zuchowski presiding at the church. Interment will be held at a later date at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI.

Memorial donations in Mary’s name may be directed to her favorite charity, Paralyzed Veterans of America at 801 Eighteenth Street NW Washington, DC 20006-3517.
