Mary Henson

Mary Lula (Collins) Henson went to be with her Savior and Lord surrounded by her loving family in Bellaire, MI, on Oct. 15, 2013. Mary, age 85, was born in Barbourville, KY on June 22, 1928. After her marriage in 1948, she divided her time between Detroit, Kentucky, Florida and Northern Michigan. Anyone who knew Mary never forgot her gentle ways, sweet smile and endearing personality. She was a devoted Christian, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandma. Mary was preceded in death by her husband John, parents Huston and Mattie (Crawford) Collins, and beloved son in-laws Edward Gordon and John Barr. She will be greatly missed by daughters Jacqueline Henson-Gordon, Elizabeth Ann Barr, and Christine Henson-Sparks. Mary is also survived by grandsons Kenneth E. Gordon, Johnny R. (Rachel Bilyea) Barr, Michael J. (Leah) Gordon, great granddaughters Kyla Paige Barr, Molly Allison Gordon and Alexia Faye Barr, beloved sisters Alabama (Vernon) Moore of Corbin, KY and Lizia Marie (Ted) Simpson of Gray, KY, as well as a host of family members and friends. Cremation was handled by Mortensen Funeral Homes in Bellaire, MI and a memorial service and interment will take place in Barbourville, KY on June 22, 2014.
