Mary G. Cantrell

Mary G. Cantrell,  84, of Mancelona, passed away on March 28, 2023 at Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility.

   She was born on September 29, 1938, in Mancelona, the daughter of William and Sarah (Bartholemew) Robbins.

   Mary was a long-time member of the Antrim Church of Christ in Mancelona, where she taught Sunday School.   Her church and her grandchildren were the most important part of her life.

   She was a long-time Detroit Tigers fan, and enjoyed reading, listening to music, especially Elvis, watching and babysitting children and playing Bingo while she was in Meadow Brook.

   On July 20, 1963, in Mancelona, she married Gary E. Cantrell who survives.   Also surviving are 2 sons, Eric (Elaine) Cantrell of Ypsilanti, MI, Aaron (Michelle) Cantrell of New Haven, IN, 3 grandsons, Drake, Aiden and Xavier Cantrell, 2 brothers, Joseph (Susie) Robbins of Mancelona, Donald Robbins of Mancelona and many nieces and nephews.

   Preceding her in death were 8 siblings, Otis Robbins, Oscar "Smoke" Robbins, Raymond Robbins, Wilfred Robbins, Irene Fair, Dave Robbins, Ila Cantrell, John Robbins as well as her parents.

   Visitation will be on Friday, March 31, 2023, from 6-8 p.m. at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.

   Funeral services are to follow on Saturday, April 1 at 6:00 p.m. also at the funeral home.

   Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Mancelona when weather permits.
