Marvin V. LaPeer,  89, of Echo Township, passed away on January 21, 2024 at McLaren Northern Michigan.

   Marvin was born on July 6, 1934, in Echo Township, the son of Clyde and Harriet (Smith) LaPeer.

   He loved fishing, especially spearing, watching old westerns, listening to old country music and was an avid Detroit Tiger and Lion fan.

   He retired out of Harbor Industries in Charlevoix following a career of over 30 years.

   Surviving are his 2 children, Laurie (Kevin) Hischer and Casey (Jessica) LaPeer both of Central Lake, 8 grandchildren, Brandon, Alexis, Dylan, Collette, Kelsey, Lizzy, Makenzie, and Ariella, 6 great-grandchildren, Sora, Chase, Matthew, Aurora, Gunner and Hudson.   Also surviving are 2 step-sisters, Pauline (Bud) Hoogerhyde and Betty Watros both of Central Lake.

   He was preceded in death by his wife Bonnie LaPeer, his parents, 2 sisters, Caroline Petrie, Irene Brooks, brother August LaPeer, sister-in-law Isabell LaPeer and many other extended family members.

   Funeral services will be on Thursday, January 25, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes with visitation from 5:00 p.m. until time of services.

    Pastor Gary Bekkering will officiate.

   Burial will be in Dunsmore Cemetery, Echo Township when weather permits.

   Memorial contributions may be made to Central Lake Food Pantry, P.O. Box 326, Central Lake, MI,  49622 or to the Central Lake Fire and Rescue, P.O. Box 726, Central Lake, MI, 49622.

   Arrangements are in the care of the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
