Mark Mitchell Walton, of Bellaire, Michigan, left this world on July 20, 2017, at the age of 62. Beloved husband to Ruth, father to Racheal, Rebecca (Scott), Gabrielle and Jessica, and Papa to Juniper, Rowan and Reid. He was preceded in death by his parents Milton and Rosemary, and his brothers Richard, Paul and John. He is survived by nine brothers, three sisters, and many brother and sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews. Mark will be remembered for his kind spirit, giving nature and contagious smile and laughter. Mark was an Earth-lover. He was a gardener, he loved playing in the woods with his grandchildren, and he was a proud supporter of the Arbor Day Foundation. Mark was a giver. He played Santa at the local Moose Lodge, gave to charities and fundraisers, and he gave his time to those who needed it. He was a proud blood-donor for the majority of his life, and even in death, he gave his physical body to heal others. Mark adored children. He smiled at every baby he crossed paths with. He always had a toy or trinket in his pocket to share with a toddler, or a magic trick to amuse a child. He had a youthful spirit, a smile that made his eyes crinkle, and a laugh that couldn't be contained. Mark was a lover. He was married to Ruth, the love of his life, for 33 years. Their four daughters were his greatest pride and joy, matched only by the adoration he had for their three grandchildren. He was never happier than when he was with his family. Mark was humble and loyal. He loved his country and proudly served in the US Navy for 20 years. He was the type of friend that you could call anytime you were in a bind. He was always there when you needed him, and he was always on time. Mark loved chili, had a knack for crane machines and liked to bake. He was quiet in crowds, but a prankster and a joker among friends. If ever there was a person that disliked Mark Walton, we haven't met them. Playful and funny, wise and nurturing - he was loved by all, and will be greatly missed. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, August 27, from 4-7:00pm at the Bellaire Senior Center. This event is open to the public. Please join us for a meal and memories of an amazing man who brought many smiles and laughter to the world. In lieu of flowers, please plant a tree in Mark's memory. Or, if you prefer, bring your favorite sweet treat for the dessert table. We hope to see you there!
