Mark Robert Smedley, 51, of Kewadin, passed away Saturday March 12th 2011, at home surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born March 26th 1959, in Traverse City, son of John and Arlene (Drogt), stepson of William Folk. Mark was preceded in death by his father John. Surviving are his siblings Lois (Eugene) Wilson of Cadillac, Sheron (Garth) Mortensen of Kewadin and John (Rochelle) Smedley of Kewadin. He leaves behind his loving wife of 28 years, Julie (Lockhart), two daughters, Peggy Smedley and Kayla (Josh) Springstead all of Kewadin. He also leaves behind his two grandchildren Kameran Smedley and Lelynn Springstead. Mark will be dearly missed by his many nieces and nephews. An avid outdoorsman, he loved to fish and hunt. He spent much of his time at his rustic camp, camping and riding four wheelers with family and friends. Mark especially adored his grandchildren and loved spending time with them. He worked for Cherry Ke. in Kewadin for 26 years as a farm mechanic, until he fell ill in 2009. He will always be remembered for his kind heart, gruff voice, and his many stories and jokes. Mark's family would like to invite family and friends to celebrate his life with an informal potluck gathering at his home on Saturday March 26th, 2011 allowing for visitors from 1 to 5 pm.
