Marjorie Stavrianos

"Marjorie Susan Stavrianos, age 71, died Sunday, October 22, 2017 at her family cabin on Torch Lake.  At her request no services are planned, but memorial contributions to the Bellaire Food Pantry at P.O. Box 252, Bellaire, MI 49615, or to Doctors Without Borders at P.O. Box 5030, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5030 , will be much appreciated.  Marge will be greatly missed, not just by her immediate family, brother Peter (Barbara) and his entire clan; children Cindy (Joe), Michael (Zoya), Christopher (Jennifer) and grandchildren Chloe, Jacob, Athena, Nikolas and Eleni; but also by the extended family whose creation was really her life's work.

From childhood Marge sought out and befriended the troubled.  She turned listening and caring, drawing out peoples wounds and soothing them with her compassion, into a lifetime profession.  First in government in Washington DC, then with public interest groups in San Francisco and elsewhere, then for the past 30 years at the Bellaire Food Pantry, the Good Samaritan Food Pantry, Meals on Wheels, With a Little Help from My Friends, and a host of other Antrim County organizations and individuals where she volunteered and contributed.  Marge sought to make her little corner of the world a better and more friendly place.  She would be continuing that work now if she could.  She left us hoping whatever little ripples her life may have created will inspire others to do so in her place."
