Marjorie H. Fleet, 78 of Bellaire passed away peacefully, Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at Munson Medical Center with her family at her side.

She was born April 4, 1940 in Detroit to William and Josephine (Densmore) Stiem.  Marjorie spent many summers traveling from Detroit to Bellaire until moving here permanently in 1973.

Marjorie was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Mancelona and also involved for years with the Ladies Guild at Hope Lutheran Church in Bellaire.  She loved to read and was a member of the Bellaire Library Board.

Marjorie loved spending time with her family and she especially enjoyed camping with them throughout the years.  She also enjoyed sitting on her swing on the front porch with her husband visiting with passersby.

A teacher by trade, Marjorie taught for many years downstate and then as a substitute teacher for the Bellaire Public Schools.  She also worked at the Antrim County News eventually becoming its editor.

On September 3, 1960 she married John H. Fleet who survives.  She is also survived by her children Mark Steven (Kathie) Fleet of Bellaire, Jean Elizabeth (Kevin) Keiser of Bellaire, Erik Michael (Elizabeth) Fleet of Traverse City, Brad Harvey (Tina) Fleet of Bellaire, Alex John (Denelle) Fleet of Bellaire, her brother William (Mary Ellen) Stiem of Livonia, sister Barbara (Tom) Bach of Marquette, 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents and grandson Sawyer Garrison Fleet.

A memorial service will be held Friday, November 16, at 1 p.m. at the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes with Pastor Jeff Burgess officiating. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of service.  Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Bellaire.  Memorial contributions can be made to the Friends of Bellaire Library, PO BOX 477, Bellaire, MI 49615.
